The Green Chair Project

The Green Chair Project is based on a program in the Canadian Parks that began with the installation of Adirondack chairs placed around the parks to encourage visitors to venture out, find the chairs, and take in the most unique and beautiful places. All of them offer an opportunity to rest, relax, and reflect on the place you’ve discovered and the journey you took to get there.

Main Street Mosier is bringing this same concept to our “gorge”ous backyard! (Did that bad pun make YOU groan, too?) We have now installed two sets of chairs—one along the trail along the Columbia between Rock Creek and Mosier Creek, and one on Mosier City Park Bluff, due east of Pioneer Cemetery and west of Cherry Hill Drive. Two more locations are currently in the works, and MSM is actively seeking input and funding to install more chairs around Mosier!

The chairs are made in the U.S., of durable commercial grade, partly recycled high-density polyethylene, designed for outdoor use and durable enough to withstand the challenges of our local weather. Each installation of two forest green chairs costs approximately $1,000. Donors to the project will have their names engraved on a plaque in both English and Spanish at each location.

We need you! Partner with some friends to underwrite an installation, sponsor through your business or organization, or make an individual donation. Any amount is necessary and appreciated—Main Street Mosier will combine donations to make installations possible. We can list your name (individual, family, organization/business) on the plaque, or you can remain as anonymous and mysterious as you'd like.

To make a contribution, visit our Donate page, or send a check* to:

Thank you for your support of this effort to make Mosier more wonderful, beautiful, memorable, unique, inclusive, and welcoming.

*Please include a note about where you would like your donation allocated, as well as contact information.
